NJ WorkAbility & Supported Employment

On this episode of the Jewish Disability Services - Together, We Make An Impact Podcast we are discussing the newly signed legislation in the state of New Jersey that expands a crucial program called WorkAbility. We spoke with parent and disability advocate, Nantanee Koppstein, about NJ Workability, which offers people with disabilities who are working, and whose income would otherwise make them ineligible for Medicaid, the opportunity to receive full Medicaid coverage. A Tribute to Judy Heumann (z"l) - The Mother of Disability Rights

A special tribute episode dedicated to the mother of the disability rights movement, Judith Heumann (z"l). Rose and Adam reflect on Judith's life, legacy, and impact. Judy is an internationally recognized leader in the disability rights community. She has been instrumental in the development and implementation of legislation, such as Section 504, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act, and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities which have been advancing the inclusion of disabled people in the US and around the world and fighting to end discrimination against all those with disabilities. The goal of this podcast is to expose and explore real issues facing the disabled community. During each episode Adam and Rose will connect our listeners with experts in the field, from academia to lived experiences, to shed light on our topic, while exploring meaningful disability resources from local professionals. Meet your Cohosts: Adam Roth M.B.A. M.Ed. (he/him) is currently the Director, Special Needs at the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey. Adam is a former public school educator, case manager, and program coordinator who spent over a decade and a half focused on educational and work-based learning impacts for the disabled community. Adam received his MBA in Corporate Communications from Fairleigh Dickinson University and his MEd in Special Education and Elementary Education from Holy Family University. Rose Greenblatt OTD, OTR/L (she/her) is currently an occupational therapist who splits her time between her role as a clinician and her passion for helping to develop emerging practice areas in OT, specifically related to community health and advocacy. Rose received her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
