On a frosty February night in 2001 in a prosperous town in northern Italy, 16 year old Erika came screaming out of her family villa, covered in blood, terrified and running for her life. Erika hammered on the doors of her neighbors, finally finding a safe haven as she managed between sobs to implore her rescuers to call the police. Intruders had broken into her home, killed her mother and brother and tried to kill her as well. Now she was worried they would kill her father too who was on his way home from work. On August 13, 2007, Chiara Poggi, twenty-six years old, was found dead in her Garlasco family home after being hit several times on the head with a blunt object, before being thrown down the stairs. Alberto Stasi, Chiara's boyfriend and discoverer of the body, is the only one under investigation. This crime is known across Italy as il delitto di Garlasco. On October 29th 2022, a Saturday night football match between Inter Milan and Sampdoria was underway at Milano’s famed San Siro Stadium. The match began in the full stadium, and as usual the Curva Nord, the seating located behind the goal, was the rowdiest place to be. Here in the Curva, the hardcore fans known as the Ultras reigned with their chants, banners and fireworks. Something was happening that night, some news or rumor was spreading throughout the stadium amongst the most diehard loyal Ultra fans. The news they had received that night, the leader and boss of their Ultra organization, had been gunned down in an ambush 3 miles from the stadium shortly before the start of the game. Vittorio Boiocchi had been killed.
