We are always talking about our roles and our priorities. Sometimes we take great pride in how we are able to take care of everyone else. We wear our good deeds to others like badges of honor. We create titles: mom, wife, partner, chief, director, VP, President . . . We even create holidays - Mother’s Day! Bosses Day! And then we are lost when the kids are gone, or we aren’t at work, or when there are transition moments. What about Self Day? Why don’t we create self time on our calendar (or at least without feeling guilty about it)? Is it because we are too busy? Is it because we are a lower priority than everything else in life? Or is it that we have learned that “Self” has many bad connotations attached to it such as SELFISH! while SELFLESS is judged as good - or at least right.
