In the Book of Ruth, Ruth the Moabite declares to her Jewish mother-in-law, “Your people will be my people, your God will be my God.” It’s the ultimate act of love, and loyalty, but Jewish tradition is that through this declaration, Ruth became part of the Jewish people.
