Season 2 - E07 - Interview with Dr Asma Bashir

Hello friends, welcome to this new episode, or shall I say, masterpiece! It was an honour to interview Dr Asma Bashir today. Dr Asma Bashir completed her PhD in Neuroscience at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, after having completed her BA in Psychology at Boston University. As founder and host of Her Royal Science – a podcast created to feature individuals from minoritised groups in STEM – she creates audio and written content delving into the most cutting-edge STEM research in an accessible manner, with the simultaneous goal of highlighting the individuals behind the research.

Season 2 - E06 - Interview with Miss Charlie Bingham

Hi friends, welcome to this new episode. I have had the pleasure to interview one of my besties, Miss Charlie Bingham! Charlie is at the beginning of her journey and is a masters student, currently studying journalism with a focus on her love for wildlife and conservation. Charlie has had a varied journey so far, coming from an Archaeology degree into conservation but is hoping to showcase how a varied skill set can be beneficial in the workplace. Charlie is passionate about empowering women and parents in STEMM, as a single mother to two boys she has seen first hand the struggles of being a woman and parent in academia and now in the workplace. Charlie's goal is to become a wildlife broadcaster and author and hopes to inspire others in a similar position to reach for their dreams. Season 2 - E05 - Interview with Dr Stéphanie Blockhuys

Hey friends, welcome to the next episode of this podcast. Today I am interviewing Dr Stéphanie Blockhuys. Stéphanie is a cancer scientist studying trace metal like copper in cancer disease. She is a standing alone mother of a 4 yrs old daughter. Stéphanie lived in Belgium until she finished her PhD, moving then to Sweden in 2013 for her postdoc. Later on, in 2020, she enrolled as a postdoc at the cancer centre of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, in New York. Stéphanie is now back in Sweden and will soon start a researcher position at the cancer centre of Gothenburg University with the intention to establish her research group.

Season 2 - E04- Interview with Dr Maria Jose Marin

Hello folks, welcome to this new episode! Today I had the pleasure to interview my colleague (and fellow spanish friend) Dr Maria Marin! Dr Maria Jose Marin is a Lecturer in Analytical Chemistry at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK. She started her independent career in October 2017 after having had more than 5 years of postdoctoral experience. Maria’s PhD research focussed on the development of fluorescent probes and nanoprobes for the intracellular detection of nitric oxide and pH. Since then, Maria’s research interest has been on the use of nanotechnology for different biological application including as intracellular sensor, diagnostic tools and as drug delivery system.

Season 2 - E03 - Interview with Associate Professor Zoё Waller

Hello folks, welcome to the third episode of this season. This one is a good one! Today we will be listening to a good friend of mine, Zoё. Zoё Waller is an Associate Professor in Drug Discovery at UCL School of Pharmacy. As part of her role there she leads a team working at the interface between chemistry and biology and is interested in the different types of structures that DNA can fold into. She also contributes towards teaching pharmaceutical and biological chemistry on the undergraduate MPharm course in Pharmacy, and for the MSc programme in Drug Discovery and Development. She has also just taken up the role of Associate Director for Research for the school.

Season 2 - E02 - Interview with Professor Pernilla Wittung-Stafshede

Hello friends! Welcome to the 2nd episode of the 2nd season of this podcast. How exciting! Today I have interviewed the amazing Professor Pernilla. Pernilla is a professor at the biology and biological engineering department at Chalmers University of Technology, in Sweden. Her research is about proteins, particularly, she studies how they function correctly and why things might go wrong. She spent 12 years in academia in the USA, as a member of the faculty at different American universities. She then returned to Sweden in 2008. She is a member of Swedish academy and the Nobel prize committee for chemistry. Pernilla also started "Genie" in 2019, a platform for gender initiative. She is also the mother of two beautiful girls. HOW AMAZING!!

Season 2 - E01 - Interview with Miss Sabaoon Zeb

Hello friends! How exciting is to bring you the second season of the podcast. And what a way to kick off this season! Today I had the pleasure to interview Sabaoon Zeb. Sabaoon is a research assistant at the Precision Medicine Lab (PML), Peshawar, Pakistan and she has earned her Master in Bioinformatics from NUST, Islamabad. She aims to explore and integrate multi-omics cancer data to discover effective cancer diagnostics and therapeutics. At PML, Sabaoon has established a database named 'CMOS', an encyclopedia of Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma cell lines with their respective multi-omics stacks. Currently, she is leading the ‘Assays’ group at PML and is responsible for conducting functional screens on patient-derived primary cancer cell lines. Sabaoon is passionate about becoming an impactful cancer scientist and disseminates her acquired knowledge and experience in the Pakistani community to attract more youngsters into STEM. WOW!

Bonus episode- International Women's Day 2022

Hi friends, today is a very important day for us, and we wanted to celebrate it with all the guests that have been in the podcast so far. They are all the inspiration we need, so, why not joining us in this episode listening to their words of wisdom for future generations? Thanks from the bottom of our hearts to each of these women. They are the perfect example of why science needs women, and why women belong to the best opportunities. We freaking belong here!

E11 - Interview with Kiara Sofia Vega Bellido

Hello friends! Welcome to the last episode of this 1st season. Can't believe it! Today I had the pleasure to interview Kiara. Kiara Sofia Vega Bellido is a queer 25 year old who was born and raised in the small college town of Mayagüez (which is right on the west coast of the Island of Puerto Rico). She’s currently pursuing the goal she established for herself in 11th grade to earn a PhD in Neuroscience. Moreover, she’s still figuring out the most effective and healthy treatment for her bipolar disorder type II diagnosis with the aim of achieving a consistency that will allow her to forge a meaningful and fulfilling career outside of academia. She’s the doting mother of the world’s most adorable rat: cofi. You are awesome Kiara!!

E10 - Interview with Prathyusha Konda

Hello friends, welcome to the 10th episode of this podast! wohoo! Today we will listen to the phenomenal Prathyusha Konda. Prathyusha received her Bachelors in Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Madras), India. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at Dalhousie University, Canada. Her research interests include immunomics and cancer immunotherapies. Outside research, she is involved in various leadership roles as the president of the graduate student society. She has been developing a Peer Support Network program for her peers at the university for the last couple of years. She has also been involved in initiating several graduate student mental health initiatives on campus. She paints during her spare time and auctions them for a cause she finds important.
