Notas del episodio

In this episode of Humankindness at Work, host Jennifer Clark talks with Daniel Yang, Senior Director of Global Mission and Church Movements at World Relief, about the power of curiosity, belonging, and shared humanity in building stronger communities.

Daniel's own story begins with his family's escape from Laos after the Vietnam War. As Hmong refugees, Daniel's family spent over a year in a Thai refugee camp before a small church in East Moline, Illinois sponsored them. Daniel was born just months after they arrived in the US, and was named by the woman who helped his family rebuild their lives.

In this conversation, Daniel shares:

  • His family's journey from the Laotian civil war to refugee resettlement in the US
  • How a heart attack at age 41 led him to understand generational trauma
  • Why curiosity, not fear, is essential to building resilient, diverse communities
  • Practical, simple ways anyone can start building relationships with immigrant and refugee neighbors
  • What World Relief does and how you can get involved
