That Kona storm northwest of the islands is still pounding us, while nearly an inch of rain fell in the last 24 hours. And we're not done yet.
As the sun sets. The Big Island is getting hammered hardest, a Flash Flood Warning stays in effect until 6 A.M. Emergency officials are urging everyone to shelter in place — roads are closed, flooding is widespread. And this is life-threatening. Rain is falling at one to two inches per hour in some spots, with heavy thunderstorms mixed in. Southwest winds gust to 28 miles an hour overnight, then ease by midday. High of 82 degrees, low tonight around 72 with scattered showers lingering.
Maui County faces the most intense rain and wind. Thunderstorms are hammering the islands with near-certain rainfall — some areas could see two to three inches by tonight. South winds ...Â
