Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Hawaii Weather Podcast — it's Tuesday, February 24th.
Folks, the islands are putting on a show today. Oahu wakes up wet — scattered showers until 11 A.M., then the sun punches through. You'll hit 77 degrees by noon with steady northeast winds at 18 miles an hour. Tonight stays mild at 67 degrees, but those clouds stick around.
The Big Island? Rain's the headline. Heavy showers hammer you until 1 A.M., then linger through the day. Highs only reach 72 degrees, with winds shifting north to northeast. Tonight drops to 63 degrees. And the showers aren't going anywhere.
Maui starts breezy and wet — scattered showers until 5 P.M., then clearing skies. Highs peak at 75 degrees with gusty northeast winds up to 22 miles an hour. Tonight cools to 62 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
Now here's the serious part. A High Surf Warning is in effect for north and east shores. Oahu's North Shore sees waves 20 to 30 feet. Windward Maui gets 12 to 18 feet. These are dangerous conditions through tonight. West-facing shores on Molokai, Maui. And the Big Island face 62 degrees to 62 degrees-foot waves under a High Surf Advisory. Stay off the rocks. This isn't the day to test the ocean.
Looking ahead — Wednesday through Friday, trade winds ease but scattered showers linger, especially on the Big Island. Highs climb to 80 degrees by Friday. The weekend brings southeasterly winds, warmer temps hitting 81 to 83 degrees. And isolated showers. Another wet pattern could roll in by Monday.
Sunrise hits at 6:57 A.M. Sunset at 6:35 P.M. You're gaining 1 minute and 11 seconds of daylight.
Especially near the water. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
