After hearing Michael Knote’s story on the Grateful Day podcast, I kept coming back to one idea: real change doesn’t come from grand gestures, but from consistent, everyday giving.

Michael launched Have a Gay Day as a simple message of hope. Over a decade later, it’s become a lifeline for thousands—running food pantries, providing pet food, and supporting those in need, all with the creativity and drive of mostly volunteers (including Michael himself).

What stands out isn’t just the numbers—1.7 million+ engaged supporters, hundreds of families helped weekly—but the steady, transparent approach that puts community first. Helping isn’t always neat or easy. Sometimes gratitude comes as a thank you, sometimes as a second chance, sometimes as quietly making someone’s day a little brighter.
