Season 1 Recap Episode! The Fun Boys podcast was born without a name or a plan. Just four friends who wanted an excuse to talk every week. We set our sites on a familiar topic to us all: The Dukes of Hazzard. We had a lot of fun discussing the episodes of season 1, and we even learned a little about podcasting. We’ve enjoyed the banter so far, and are excited to continue on with season 2, but first we’re going to have a talk about some notable topics, laughs, and memories from the last few months. That’s how you do it season finale! We’ve got clever bad guys with a solid scheme. We’ve got the Duke boys and the whole police force quarantined at the jail. We’ve got Daisy and Cooter tracking down bank robbers. The Dukes will lose the farm if they can’t get their mortgage paid in time. And from there it just gets crazy. Dynamite arrows going rapid fire, Choctaw cops in hot pursuit, an RV for a getaway vehicle, a rickety old fishing shack, and the biggest General jump of the season! If you run a crooked traveling casino out of the back of an 18 wheeler, it’s probably best to stay out of Hazzard County. But Helen doesn’t feel that way so she hires the Duke boys to drive the rig. They quickly learn about her corrupt ways, as she swindled an old Duke friend out of his meager life savings. Jesse can’t let that stand, and we’re fighting fire with fire! Jesse scams the scammers to win all of the money on the truck, Boss and Rosco try to get all the gambling equipment, Cooter takes a nap on the General, and Daisy is dressed to the nines! When Boss tries to commit insurance fraud for a million dollars, you know the Duke boys are getting involved, whether they want to or not. Boss has framed them for stealing the money, so they have to outsmart Boss’s goons to get it back and turn it over to the feds. Snipe hunts, skinny dipping, stolen money, and smooching. And that’s all in the opening scene! The boys are really in it this week, because Boss and Rosco task the boys with transferring “public enemy number one” from Springville to Hazzard. If not, they’re looking at two years in jail. Bo and Luke aren’t happy about having jobs, but that’s the least of their worries because they’ve got bad guys on their tails and Dolly Parton’s sister in the backseat. Pack your day bag, friends. Oh Cooter, it’s just not worth it. Jed’s taking his first shot at running scenes, and he’d better do good because this one is crazy coming at ya. Long story short, Cooter steals the President’s limo, and hopefully the boys can help him out of this jam before they all end up in jail. Don’t worry, the General is jumping, dynamite arrows are flying, Daisy is beautiful, and Rosco is dutiful. Let’s get into it guys, there’s federal crimes to commit!
The title doesn’t lie, we’ve got a heist in Hazzard. A swindled chicken farmer robs Boss to get his money back, and the boys get pinched for it. Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time! Meanwhile, a hard working Daisy falls for the robber, the boys are on the run despite Bo’s sore feet, Jesse is trying to make sense of everything, Rosco is being hilarious in the midst of pretty fair police work, and Enos’s fate is a huge point of contention for the Fun Boys. This episode was harder to discuss than we were expecting, and we’re not sure we figured anything out, but see for yourselves as we review The Big Heist!
Drama, romance, action, comedy, heartbreak, adventure… all packed into one episode. How? We’re not sure either, but the Dukes pulled it off. The big race is coming up, and Luke falls hard for one of the other racers, but is he ready to commit to just one lady? No. Meanwhile, Jesse dishes out great advice, Daisy gives away free beers, Bo loses the General, Boss loses his Mama’s ashes, Cooter loses consciousness, and we about lost our minds. Tough one to keep straight, but with so much on the line we’ve got to give it a shot. Buckle up, gang. Here we go.
When an old acquaintance comes to visit the Duke farm, the boys find themselves in a whole heap of trouble. They agree to deliver a truckload of shine, but quickly learn they’ve got an ice cream truck full of weapons. Rosco and Enos are hot on their tails, and Boss is hungry for that truck. We’ve got double crosses, road blocks, giant walkie-talkies, exploding arrows, new scenery, Mrs Puff, possibly the tree from to Kill a Mockingbird, and craw dad bisque! This one had us on the edge of our seats, all the way through the episode, or did it? Find out for yourselves as we ride along with the Dukes for “Swamp Molly.”
The boys help Uncle Jesse run off a batch of his famous moonshine to win an alternative fuel contest. Gang, this one has everything. Boss and Rosco double crossing the Dukes, federal agents in disguise and in the bag, car chases, shucking and jiving, and even a little juking. None of us would ever claim to know anything about making moonshine, but maybe we’ll have some info on that too. Buckle up friends, the only thing higher than our ratings this week was the octanes!
