Authenticity & Anger (Authenticity - Week 6)
Have you ever busted a knuckle assembling budget furniture with those cheap little Allen wrenches that come with the kit? And then realizing after getting halfway into the assembly that you have assembled it wrong and need to start over again? Grrr…Well, anger is a natural human response to something or someone that causes us physical or emotional pain. The key to overcoming that anger is choosing to respond with grace. Listen in as Pastor Brady wraps up his 6-week series on “Authenticity” with the next message entitled “Authenticity and Anger.” Key Scriptures: I John 2:6; Genesis 4:1-8; Matthew 5:21-22a; James 1:20 ffbic.org Facebook: Five Forks Church Instagram: FiveForksBIC Intro/Outro Music: Sunday Mornin' Pleasure - Briar Edwards
Authenticity & Grief (Authenticity - Week 5)
You may have been taught from a young age to put on a brave face when you are hurting, but the truth is, healing doesn’t start with pretending. It starts when we bring our raw, unbroken honesty to the foot of the Cross—tears, doubts, and all. That is the place where the healing begins. God doesn’t ask us to hide our pain—He invites us to bring it to Him. And, if you know someone who is grieving, most times the best thing to do is be there for them and say nothing at all. To learn more, listen in as Pastor Brady continues his 6-week series on “Authenticity” with the next message entitled, “Authenticity and Grief”. Authentic Worship (Authenticity - Week 4)
There was a classic television show from 1963 (and later rebooted in 1995) called The Outer Limits, where the opening monologue of the “Control Voice” tells the viewer that they have fictitiously taken control of your television. Among those controls that it claimed were the horizontal and vertical. Well, when it comes to worship, we are actually the ones who have that control. Our worship should be vertical, our best directed only to God, and not horizontal – it’s not a show. Listen in as Pastor Brady continues his 6-week series on “Authenticity” with the next message entitled “Authentic Worship”. What is your response to the goodness of God? Key Scriptures: 1 John 2:6; Romans 12:1; Genesis 4:1-5; Mark 12:29-30 ffbic.org Facebook: Five Forks Church Instagram: FiveForksBIC Intro/Outro Music: Sunday Mornin' Pleasure - Briar Edwards
An Authentic Welcome (Authenticity - Week 3)
Many airlines have adopted the concept of the “Hospitality Suite” in airport terminals where, for a premium, passengers are welcomed as VIPs. These suites are set aside for travelers to relax, read, refresh, or do some work away from the busy main terminal area. It makes passengers feel appreciated, visible, and welcome. That’s the way every person who comes through the doors of Five Forks Church should be welcomed, no matter where they are in their faith walk. You know, like a VIP. That’s how Jesus would do it, and the good news is that He has already paid the premium. Listen in as Pastor Brady continues his 6-week series on “Authenticity” with the next message entitled, “An Authentic Welcome”. Let’s see how we measure up. Authenticity & Holiness (Authenticity - Week 2)
Back in 1882, a man by the name of Harley Procter sent a bar of what would become the Ivory soap that we know today to a chemist to see how pure it was. The chemist’s analysis revealed that the bar was 99.44% pure soap. The remaining 0.56% was determined to be a combination of other ingredients, one of which was actually dirt. 100% purity in our spiritual walk is nothing short of impossible to attain on our own. But once we are authentic with ourselves and with God, recognize that we can’t do it on our own, and surrender to the One who died in our place and masterfully created each one of us, then the purification can begin. He will clean us up! Tune in as Pastor Brady continues his 6-week series on “Authenticity” with the next message entitled, “Authenticity and Holiness”. What is an Authentic Christian? (Authenticity - Week 1)
In the song entitled “Evidence” by Christian music artist Larnelle Harris, there is a lyric that asks, “If you were arrested for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?” The reality is that being authentic stands the test of time; being counterfeit just hopes that God doesn’t look too closely. Which would you rather be? Tune in as Pastor Brady begins a 6-week series on “Authenticity” with the first message entitled, “What is an Authentic Christian?”. Who is This God? (Three Lessons from Job - Week 3)
What’s My Line was an old TV show where a panel of celebrities would ask a guest yes/no questions trying to determine what line of work the guest practiced. The panel could ask any questions but the obvious one, of course – “So, what do you do for a living?” Many times, the guest would stump the panel after a few rounds and win $50. Well, followers of Jesus can all agree that God is Who He says He is. No mystery there. But do we know why He does what He does? Sometimes it may not seem to make sense in our minds. Listen in as Pastor Ray wraps up his 3-week series entitled “Three Lessons from Job” with the final message entitled, “Who is this God?”. Where is Wisdom? (Three Lessons from Job - Week 2)
Many of the best and brightest minds in our society are products of schools like MIT, Stanford, or maybe one of several Ivy League universities. While their accomplishments and contributions to our society and way of life are notable and appreciated, real wisdom is found in another place. Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom”. We’re not talking about fearing or dreading God; it’s actually a deep reverence and love for Him as the result a life transformed. Listen in as Pastor Ray continues with his 3-week series entitled “Three Lessons from Job” with the next message entitled, “Where is Wisdom?”. The Folly of False Assumptions (Three Lessons from Job - Week 1)
Throughout history, many assumptions were made that caused very undesirable consequences. More personally, making assumptions about how God views or responds to certain situations that we humans get ourselves into can be a dangerous thing. Listen in as Pastor Ray begins a 3-week series entitled “Three Lessons from Job” with the first message entitled, “The Folly of False Assumptions”. Don’t just assume – come find out the real story. Building an Enduring Patience (Life Lessons from Hebrews - Week 5)
Most really good athletes will tell you that in order to take your trade to the next level, one has to master the fundamentals. You know, being a master of the basics by “sweating the small stuff”. Many times, the repetition of those drills can be hard on the athlete, both physically and mentally. Listen in as Pastor Brady wraps up his sermon series “Life Lessons from Hebrews” with this week’s message entitled “Building an Enduring Patience”. Key Scriptures: Hebrews 12:1-13 ffbic.org Facebook: Five Forks Church Instagram: FFBICChurch Intro/Outro Music: Sunday Mornin' Pleasure - Briar Edwards
