Revelation Chapter 2 begins with a message from Jesus to the seven churches in Asia. The chapter contains specific messages for each of the churches, addressing their strengths, weaknesses, and offering exhortations and promises.

Ephesus: Jesus commends the church in Ephesus for their hard work, perseverance, and discernment against false teachings. However, He reproves them for losing their initial love for Him and urges them to repent and return to their first love.

Smyrna: Jesus encourages the church in Smyrna, acknowledging their suffering and poverty. He assures them that although they will face persecution, they should remain faithful, and promises them the crown of life.
