More than 91% of Standard Bank Namibia's non-managerial employees have voted in favour of a protected strike as a wage dispute with management continues. Namibian Financial Institutions Union Secretary-General Asnath Zamuee says workers are demanding a 7% salary increase and improved allowances, arguing the demands are fair given the bank's financial performance. The union says it remains open to a negotiated settlement but warns banking services could be disrupted if the strike proceeds.
