We were able to hold the interview at the historic forest service ranger station that is now the History Center. Sadie has a wealth of knowledge about Wallowa County and how the valley was settled. She serves as an incredible representative of the area and the members of Wallowa community. The Zookeeper and Backcountry Biologist of Wallowa County - Vic Coggins
Welcome back to the show! We had the pleasure of talking with Vic Coggins, a retired Wildlife Biologist who resides in Northeastern Oregon. Vic talked with us about his career and his adventures whilst navigating various controversial topics amongst sportsman's groups and policy. He played a large roll in the reintroduction of sheep and goats to Wallowa County and includes all the data points and experiences of this event in his book " Memoirs of a Backcountry Bio- 50 years managing Wallowa County Wildlife." His advice to the younger generation is to get outside, be in touch with the landscape you are responsible for, and be a worthy representative of the species that surround you. Dr. Jim Muir is a Grasslands Ecologist at Texas A&M AgriLife Research Center. He is an accomplished researcher, world traveler, mentor, and dear friend. Jim talks about growing up a in Africa and Portugal and the different perspective that brings to his life. He has found connections all over the world though science and gives his advice to those seeking to go into academia. It was lovely to chat with someone so passionate about their job, welcome Jim!

Finding his way; a career in contract forestry- Kyle
We welcome Kyle to the show! So fortunate to sit down with him and get to talk about his career in contract forestry. Coming from the midwest Kyle was lucky to grow up in the land of lakes but was eager to explore the PNW. After college he made his way to the west and found various jobs working as a forester, living out of his car and exploring numerous national forests. Kyle has made a living performing surveys, most notably the Forest Inventory Analysis (FIA) surveys for local national forests. He shares some of his most notable growing moments in his career and fine tuning his survey skills. We hope that you enjoy this conversation as much as we did. 21 years Working in the Wilderness- Jim and Holly Akenson
Jim and Holly are a rare breed. Two local biologists take the chance of a lifetime, sharing a position on Taylor Ranch for the University of Idaho in the remote Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness in Idaho. Over these 21 years they make amazing local discoveries in predator's and prey movements as well changing the lives of students that visited during the summer months. They share the ups and downs of living so remote as well as the tragedy of the fires of 2000. They write a very detailed account in their book : 7003 Days; 21 years in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness (which can be found on Amazon). Please welcome Jim and Holly.

NE Oregon Logging and Local Businessman - Mark Tsiatsos
Mark and his family have been a large part of the North East Oregon community for generations. He shares stories of the important things; family, friends, and working hard. Mark and the people he chats about really emphasize the phrase "they don't make 'em like they used to". There are stories of fighting fire from a dozer to ER trips to the legendary 4th of July BBQ. "You will not stand alone"- Renae
We welcome to the show Renae, she shares her story of being a wildland firefighter, initial attack dispatcher ,a hotshot superintendent's wife, the Center Manager of the Blue Mountain Interagency dispatch center, and a program specialist for the Casualty Assistance Program a interagency organization that support families and loved ones when serious injury occurs. Renae has a gift for navigating the logistical and emotional needs of firefighters and their families. She highlights the harsh realities of losing folks on and off duty and the resources that have been established to assist all individuals involve. Renae shares some of the ways she looks for the good in live with her dogs and quality time with her family. It was a pleasure spending time with her and listening to a well respected leader and master of her craft.

We welcome Ted Craddock who is an Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife State Researcher and Houndsmen. He has spent a lifetime in the woods from logging, running dogs, to guiding. Ted is an avid advocate of predator management he shares his life among the trees. Ted has been featured on other podcasts describing more specifics of running hounds and using dogs in sport.
