Now to the news. Carlisle residents are facing another day without water. City officials announced Sunday afternoon that the community would remain under a no-water order, while the Carlisle Community School District closed for a third consecutive day. Gov. Kim Reynolds said her office and the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management are working with county emergency managers and Carlisle officials to restore water service. …
In Ames, emergency crews are working to recover a truck that became submerged in water Sunday. Police were called shortly after noon to the 4500 block of Mortensen Road after reports of a vehicle in the water. Officers found one person inside the truck, which later became fully submerged with the person still inside. …
In Des Moines, one man is hospitalized after an early Sunday shooting in the Court Avenue Entertainment District. Police officers on foot patrol heard gunshots near Fourth Street and Court Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. They found a 23-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. …
Around the state, a man has been arrested and charged with killing his grandfather in rural Black Hawk County. Deputies found 75-year-old Gale Anthony Mervin dead at a home Saturday evening and arrested 21-year-old Eric Paul O’Connell II. …
Around the world, a Saudi-led coalition says its fighter jets are bombing Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen as forces of Yemen’s internationally recognized government launched a major offensive along the Red Sea coast. …

Casey’s has purchased 20 ASAP Energy convenience stores in western Oklahoma. Starbucks says it will close 250 underperforming stores, and Hy-Vee is converting its rural Dollar Fresh discount stores into Hy-Vee locations. …
Today in history: In 1947, President Harry Truman delivered the first-ever televised presidential address from the White House. In 1989, the Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. And in 2017, The New York Times published its investigation into sexual harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein, a story that became one of the defining early moments of the MeToo movement. …
