Day 267: Daily Goodwill
You know that thing where you add something to your cart online and then just leave it there. Not because you can't afford it. Not because you changed your mind. You just close the tab. And then three days later you open it back up and half the time you've completely forgotten why you wanted it in the first place.
Day 266: Daily Goodwill
Have you checked on that plant today. The one on your desk or your kitchen counter or that windowsill you walk past forty times but never really look at. Most of us have something alive in our space that we're technically responsible for. And most of the time we remember it exists only when we notice it's drooping.
Day 265: Daily Goodwill
I made toast this morning. Just regular toast. But I actually stood there and watched it while it toasted. I didn't check my phone.
Day 264: Daily Goodwill
So here's something we all do but pretend we don't. We wait until we're completely stuck before we ask for help. Not when we first notice the problem. Not when it's still manageable. We wait until we're underwater. Until the thing has compounded. Until asking feels like admitting defeat. Like there's some invisible rule that says you have to earn assistance by first proving you can't do it alone.
Day 263: Daily Goodwill
Your phone charger has a relationship with you. Not a good one. You plug in at night and it sits there on the nightstand like a tiny electric tether. You wake up. You unplug. And the first thing you look at is whatever's waiting for you behind that screen.
Day 262: Daily Goodwill
I heard someone say this in line at the grocery store this morning. She was on the phone with someone. She said I just need a break. And then after a pause she said No I know I've been scrolling for like two hours. I don't think she realized how perfectly she named the thing we all do. We confuse rest with distraction. Rest refills you. Distraction just occupies your attention while you stay empty.
Day 261: Daily Goodwill
So here's something we all sort of believe without checking it. We think that if something bothers us, we have to do something about it. Someone cuts in front of us at the grocery store. Our brain immediately starts drafting a response. The printer jams for the third time today. We feel obligated to have an opinion about it.
Day 260: Daily Goodwill
I've been thinking about endings all morning. We put so much energy into how we start things. The first day of a project. The opening line of an email. The way you walk into a room. But the way you leave a conversation. The way you wrap up a meeting. The last thing you say before you hang up. That matters just as much. Maybe more. Here's today's advice. Most people ghost their own endings. You finish a conversation and just sort of drift away. You get to the last five minutes of a meeting and ev
Day 259: Daily Goodwill
I was at the coffee shop this morning. The barista handed me my drink and said thanks. I said thanks back. We did that little nod thing. And then I walked out realizing I have no idea what her name is. I've been going to that place for months. She knows my order. I know her face. But we've never crossed that line from familiar strangers into actual people with names. And here's the thing. I don't think either of us is being rude. We're just stuck in that middle distance where it feels too late t
Day 258: Daily Goodwill
Have you ever actually met the person who lives two doors down from you. Like really met them. Not the polite nod when you're both checking the mail. Not the quick wave from the car.
