Day 287: Daily Goodwill

Your refrigerator has a whole autobiography written on it right now. The grocery list you started three days ago. The appointment card from the dentist. That invitation.

Day 286: Daily Goodwill

I heard someone say this in the pharmacy parking lot yesterday. I just need to find one place for it and then I'll know. She was on the phone. Holding a small package. Looking annoyed. It made me laugh because I know exactly what she meant. The scissors live somewhere until they don't. The tape dispenser had a spot until it migrated. The battery drawer became the battery-and-also-random-charger drawer and now you can't close it all the way.

Day 285: Daily Goodwill

Here's the myth. You need to stretch when you wake up. Or right before bed. Or after a workout when your muscles are warm. The truth is your hip flexors don't care what time it is. Your shoulders have been curled forward since nine this morning. Your lower back has been holding you upright in that chair for three hours without a break. They're not waiting for permission or the perfect moment. They're just tight right now. Today's Indigenous Peoples' Day. A day for honoring roots. For recognizing

Day 284: Daily Goodwill

I've been thinking about volume all morning. Not the kind you adjust on your phone. The kind that fills up a room or a day without you noticing until it's the only thing you can hear. Like right now. The trees are putting on their loudest show. Reds and golds screaming for attention. And inside your head it's probably just as noisy. Plans for the week. Things you forgot to do. The conversation you had yesterday that keeps replaying. All of it at once. All of it competing. Here's today's advice.

Day 283: Daily Goodwill

I watched someone reorganize their bag at the coffee shop this morning. She pulled everything out onto the table. Wallet. Keys. Receipts. Lip balm. A pack of gum. Two pens. Something wrapped in a napkin that might have been a granola bar three weeks ago. Then she put it all back in. Same stuff. Same bag. Just slightly neater for about forty-five seconds. Here's today's advice.

Day 282: Daily Goodwill

Do you remember the last thing you ate for breakfast. I'm not talking about this morning. I mean do you actually remember eating it. Or did you eat it standing up while looking at your phone. While packing your bag. While already thinking about the first thing you have to do when you get where you're going.

Day 281: Daily Goodwill

I sat down to work this morning and my neck hurt. Not a lot. Just enough to make me notice I'd been hunching over my laptop yesterday without moving for three hours straight. I stood up. Rolled my shoulders back. Got a glass of water. My body had been trying to tell me something for a while. I just hadn't been listening.

Day 280: Daily Goodwill

You know what we all do but pretend we don't. We practice conversations we're never going to have. Someone cuts you off in traffic and twenty minutes later you're still explaining to them why that was dangerous. Your brain is holding a full trial with witnesses.

Day 279: Daily Goodwill

Your shoes have been waiting by the door all morning. Not judging you exactly. More like hopeful. Like a dog that knows the word walk is coming but hasn't heard it yet. They've been there since yesterday. Since last week maybe. And every time you walk past them you think about it. You think maybe I should. Maybe later. Maybe after this next thing. The shoes don't care. They'll wait. Here's today's advice.

Day 278: Daily Goodwill

I was standing in line at the post office this morning. Woman behind me muttered to herself. Something went wrong on purpose just to mess with me today. I laughed. Not out loud. Just that little breath through your nose thing. Because yeah. That's the contract we all sign without reading it. The world wakes up. Checks its schedule. Decides today's the day it picks on you specifically. Your shoelace breaks. The printer jams. Someone takes your regular parking spot. And somewhere in your brain a v
