EPISODE S2E08: "Resident Evil" (2026)
Welcome back to Dad, You're Wrong, the podcast where a Gen X dad and his millennial son keep score on this year's horror slate. This week the booth is full again: Eric has returning guests Joe Price and John Wendt in the room, with Josh calling in from Chicago.
From Zach Cregger, the mind behind Barbarian and Weapons, comes an original survival-horror take on the video-game series. Austin Abrams plays Bryan, a medical courier having the worst shift of his life, tasked with getting one mysterious delivery across a snowbound Raccoon City. It is scary, it is very funny, and per Josh, it may feature the hardest anyone has ever laughed at the word "monster."
The rare part: all four of them land on the same side. They get into whether Abrams can carry a whole movie by himself (short answer, yes), the longest cold open of the year, the seven-sequence structure that makes every stretch play like a new game level, Cregger's fondness for a jump scare, and why he says he is done making other people's IP. The one Dad, You're Wrong moment: Dad calls the lore convoluted, and Josh reminds him that is just Resident Evil.
No VHS Vault this week; Josh says go play Resident Evil 4 in VR instead. And E Pluribus Unum just crossed ten thousand listens, so thank you all.
Eric's Rating: Watch in Theater. Josh's Rating: Watch in Theater.
See it on the big screen, then come tell all four of us we're wrong.
