This episode is part 2 of Josh's Interview. We continue our conversation with josh about his experience being an Indigenous scholar in higher education. We chat about the history of the Native Student Alliance Tipi and how we have found community and kin with our relatives because of that symbol. With recent events, we talk about the desecration of the NSA lodgepoles and who is really at fault. The timing is intense because shortly after, Josh published an article about Native Americans In higher education hosted by the DU Clarion, the University's news, and student's voice. We take some time to reflect on his journey and describe some of the highlights that Josh will never forget while also looking forward to the last few weeks of undergrad as he comes closer to the finish line. In part one, Josh is a fourth-year soon-to-be graduate who will have two degrees in Psychology and Criminology. He comes from the Rosebud Sioux Tribe in South Dakota. In this episode, Josh describes his pathway to leadership coming from the reservation to the University of Denver setting, leading his current position as the DU Native Student Alliance CO-Chair representative. Part 2: Taylor drops some insightful knowledge of what it looks like to be an Indigenous student at the University of Denver. She talks about her path to leadership as the Native Student Alliance (NSA) co-chair president and her many other roles as a community activist and as a being of change. As an undergraduate student representative of NSA, Taylor has been a part of university-wide conversations involving political climate and social initiatives regarding the Indigenous community. Finally, she describes her relationship with the University of Denver.

In this episode, two first-year undergraduate students, Julius and Patrick, are interviewed as they are both Indigenous scholars who attend the University of Denver. They talk about their transition from a Native American charter school (NACA) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to this predominately white institution. They both tell a story of their experiences on campus and how they ground themselves as they navigate a colonial academic structure.
In this episode, I introduce my Capstone project as an Undergraduate Student in the Anthropology Department at the University of Denver. I describe my own journey through the university level as a Diné from the Navajo nation. Culturally connected as I am to my tribal community and people, I struggle to navigate the set structure that is placed before at this Institution. The reckoning between Indigenous identity and environment is a constant struggle for Native American Scholars that attend DU. I describe my journey and how I find a sense of belonging in higher education. I am validated by the teachings of my elders even when I am away from my family.
