When a child inside a Jehovah's Witness congregation reports sexual abuse, the organisation will not act unless there is a second witness to what happened. There is never a second witness to child sexual abuse. Sam Carling knows this rule personally. He grew up inside the organisation in County Durham. He was raised as a Jehovah's Witness.

He won a seat in Parliament at 22 years old by 39 votes after a recount, becoming the youngest MP elected at the 2024 general election and the first British parliamentarian born in the 21st century.
