💬 What We Cover:

Preparation is Key

  • Self-Assess: Ask yourself, "Am I as active as I want to be? If not, why/what happens?"
  • Keep a Health Journal/Log: Include concerns, symptoms, vitals, lifestyle changes, and plans for change (i.e., exercise).
  • Prioritize: Pre-prioritize your questions and concerns for the visit.
  • Medication List: Make a list of all medications (times, dosages, how they work for you) and all supplements with dosages.
  • Support: If desired, bring a companion to take notes or be there for support.
  • Take Notes: Bring something to record your doctor's advice and instructions.
  • Avoid Beforehand: Skip the alcohol, high-fat foods, large amounts of caffeine, and smoking prior to your appointment.

Key Questions for Your Doctor

  • "Are you going to change up my medications/inhalers? Why or why not?"
  • Discuss creating or updating The Action Plan to track trouble.
  • "Am I due for any tests? When was my last PFT or 6-minute walk test (6MWT)?"

💖 Closing Encouragement: Your medical team is there to support you. By taking a few simple steps to prepare, you ensure that every minute of your appointment is used to improve your care and your quality of life. Be honest, be ready, and advocate for your lungs!
