Cruella
Ever wonder where Cruella came from? How she wound up so...well, cruel? Director Craig Gillespie and his team of writers did a surprisingly excellent job fleshing out one of Disney's classic villains, and an even better job of painting her origin in the cutthroat setting of London's West End fashion scene in the mid-seventies. Listen in as Audrey and Sharee discuss the thoroughly complex plot and throw in just a dash of armchair psychology.
Wicked
Jon M. Chu's film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Wicked -- Audrey and Sharee have EVERYTHING to say about the movie that broke records as the highest-grossing musical adaptation EVER. Seen it and NEED to nerd out? Not sure whether or not to spend the money? Heard it was terrible and confused as to why we're obsessed? This is the podcast for you.
Hocus Pocus
Cinematic Pulse gives a laughter-filled episode on Disney’s 1993 cult classic Hocus Pocus.
The Martian
This has been a bucket list episode since the inception of Cinematic Pulse Podcast. Sharee and Audrey finally tackle the sci-fi blockbuster (and the book that inspired it).
Kiki’s Delivery Service
In a bit of a mixup, Audrey and Sharee got overly excited for the Halloween season, and chose to bring you an episode on Kikis Delivery Service this week instead! (Don't worry, their episode on The Martian will still be airing next week!) The duo discusses how the classic 1989 Studio Ghibli film is representative of Japanese culture, the differing plot structure, and of course goes down a bit of a rabbit hole about the magical cat Jiji. Kiki's Delivery Service is available to stream in both the Japanese and English dub on (HBO) Max.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Full Review)
Following up on our mini-review from last year, Cinematic Pulse has an in-depth talk about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, a sequel to the groundbreaking Sony picture, Into the Spider-Verse. We discuss some of the themes of young-adulthood and the intention behind the film’s beautiful artistry. Across the Spider-Verse is currently streaming on Netflix and available for purchase or rent on Amazon Prime.
CONVINCE ME: Disciples in the Moonlight
In a new sub-series, Sharee and Audrey do an episode of “CONVINCE ME” — a segment where one host has seen a movie and is trying to convince the other to watch it. The episode this week is on an indie film written and produced by Audrey’s former classmates, Disciples in the Moonlight — a dystopian Christian film centered around a not-too-distant future. The movie is currently available for digital purchase on Google TV, Xbox, Apple TV, Amazon, and Fandango/Vudu. Free streaming date to be announced later this year.
Temporada 1
Surf’s Up
Why do movies flop? Why do GOOD movies flop? Sharee and Audrey tackle this 2007 animated film that was way ahead of his time in its format and went up against the likes of Pixar's Ratatouille for Best Animated Feature. Tune in to find out all the things you didn't know you needed to know about this movie.
Cars
For this Race Day and Memorial Day weekend, Cinematic Pulse is talking about the 2006 animated masterpiece, Disney’s Cars. Showcasing the surprising vocal talents of Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy, this movie is the kind that teaches important lessons like humility, friendship, and respect.
Pride & Prejudice (2005)
In honor of Mother's Day last weekend, Cinematic Pulse discusses one of Mama Jackson's favorite movies - the 2005 film adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. This is a movie Sharee can watch over and over again, but Audrey is a die-hard 1995 TV-miniseries fan. Can they meet in the middle on their appreciation for this movie?
