Ryan Lombardi sits down with Bonnies Baseball Head Coach Jason Rathbun for a recap of the opening series against Gardner-Webb, including a game-by-game review from Coach Razz: a series that sees the Bonnies with an early 3-1 record. Ryan gets Coach Razz to talk about how getting a bullpen ready when the starter is doing well but gets injured affects the entire staff. A rundown of pitcher velocity stats is discussed. And they also preview a 5 game series with Morehead State that's getting moved from Kentucky to South Carolina due to weather concerns.

Coach also gives his thoughts on the growth of his freshmen; namely Zoe Shaw, Caitlin Frost, and Hannah Richardson. They also discuss advanced scouting and recruiting this time of year. And listen as Coach Crowley recounts one of the craziest bus trips ever from last weekend in Philadelphia!

Bonaventure Baseball Rundown (2/26/25)

Bonnies Baseball Head Coach Jason Rathbun sits down with Ryan Lombardi to recap the early southern trip against Morehead State, with Coach Razz talking about how happy he was with the pitching in that series, but the lefthanders need some more work. RHP James Capellupo has had a great start, with an ERA of 2.79. Luke Roggenburk has 2 saves already. Also a discussion of how the Bonnies' bats woke up in the rubber game against the Eagles, and how Bona has been in contention every game this season, despite the 3 early losses. Coach Razz is getting the team ready for a Volunteer state road trip that will spill over into Spring Break - including a 3 game series (and a great test for the Bonnies) against SEC power Tennessee, who are heading into the Astros Foundation College Classic in Houston, Texas this weekend.

And Bob goes into depth concerning the "opt in" by St. Bonaventure into the NCAA settlement on student-athlete compensation, and explains for all fans & alumni just what this procedure means for the future of Bona's athletics.

Coach Mearns talks about having to prepare for 3 games in a week's time, as well as a brief preview of the home contest against Mercer on Thursday 3/6. Coach Mearns also shares his thoughts on the growth of field lacrosse and St. Bonaventure intending to opt into the House v. NCAA settlement.

Coach Schmidt gives his views on Bonaventure opting in to the NCAA settlement and how Bona will navigate the collective, with recruiting and portal roadblocks. An interesting point about the importance of promoting the Bonnies basketball "brand" to the university as a whole.

James talks about his journey to St. Bonaventure and how much he's enjoying the team culture and playing for Coach Razz. James talks about his "crazy" leg-kick that has made him a social media star! Coach Razz recaps the recent road trip - including wins at Old Dominion, Middle Tennessee, and UT Martin. The road trip to play top rated squads granted Bona huge exposure, including for the Bonnies' leading hitter Jayce Tharnish. Coach Razz also give a preview in anticipation of opening up A10 play with a trip to Virginia for a series at the Richmond Spiders Friday through Sunday (March 14th - 16th).

The start of the A10 schedule is analyzed, with wins over La Salle and Rhode Island - as well as a preview of Richmond coming to campus for a noon game on Saturday March 22nd.

Coach Razz talks about the strong bond amongst the team coming off a tough loss to Penn State - despite some good pitching. The upcoming home series against George Mason is previewed. Coach Razz also highlights his players that have been the most mentally tough during this stretch.
