Feasting On The Bread Of Life

In the book of Exodus God told Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you.”This bread, called manna, was a picture of the true bread of life Jesus who was sent from heaven to feed the world. In John Ch.6 Jesus calls His audience’s attention to the only means of attaining eternal life—by eating his flesh and drinking His blood. This difficult teaching sifted the crowds down to the original twelve to which Jesus looked to and said, “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Peter didn’t always respond appropriately, but this time he couldn’t have said it any better, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” In life, the words of Jesus don’t always make perfect sense to us. Nevertheless, Peter’s words of wisdom ring true—Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
