Temporada 1
This week we do our final movie review of season one with Jordan Peele’s latest work: NOPE. But first, we start off the podcast with the most controversial fan theory segment yet. We place on our tin foil hats and debate the presence of aliens, wormholes, and magic. After the lively discussion, we get into the movie, discussing subverting expectations, the social commentary, and scariest parts among other things. Finally, we put our scuba gear on and perform a deep dive on being black in horror spaces.
After crashing Comicpalooza, we share our experience on the enjoyment of comic cons and the community that it builds. Afterwards, one of the Meeches calls out Homelander for running. Then, we recap the wildest season of The Boys yet, recapping the highlights, the fights, our love for Queen Maeve, and of course, Herogasm! Finally, we put our scuba gear on and go on a deep dive through cancel culture and its impact on creators.
Thor got us in our feelings. In this special episode, we recap Thor’s latest solo entry into the MCU. We discuss Gorr’s crisis of faith as well as pay our respects to The Mighty Thor. After handing out our movie awards, we speculate about the future of Thor and the MCU. Finally, on our deepest dive yet, the Meeches discuss the true power of love. Ranging from jealousy to dealing with grief and heartbreak, then ending with the key and importance of self-love. We bring the thunder in this episode, holding nothing back. #Justice4Hulk
SUBARASHI! Splendid! For this exciting episode, we are dipping our toes into the world of anime. We are going into what makes them appealing along with some of the cultural downsides, especially within the nerd-sphere. Then, we deep dive into some of the different genres! We discuss each one, what makes them appealing, and give some recommendations for each genre (as depressing as it gets sometimes), in case any of our listeners want to give anime a fair chance! And as a bonus, you get to hear a fantastic story over our childhoods and a particular card game! Remember, we merely open the door into this rabbithole that is the world of anime, where it takes you is up to you!
It has happened, our dear listeners. Someone tapped into a power…a sinister power. A power that has not been felt since…KENOBI!!!!!!!!!. That’s right! We are reviewing the Disney+ series, Obi-Wan Kenobi. And afterwards, one of the Meeches taps into the Dark side of the Force to give an unforgettable speech about the toxic culture of Star Wars and its fans. Forget episode 2. THIS is the episode one of them goes completely out of pocket! So, get ready! And let’s find out which Meech is on the Light Side and which one is on the Dark Side!
After last week’s shenanigans, the blerds had to get a glow up. Recruiting our good friends, Autumn and Brita, we host our very first guests. With introductions out of the way, the group discusses the evolution of women in nerd culture, and stigmas that need to be overcome. Then, our guests get open about fitting in, despite gatekeeping and various roadblocks before revealing what they believe is next in telling the stories of women. Finally, they give us some interesting theories and we introduce two new segments. Remember, all are welcome in The City.
We tried to be a respectable pod, but we’ve already gotten out of pocket. In our first ever movie review, while discussing Jurassic Kingdom: Dominion, one of the Meeches goes on a legendary rant about reboots and requels. We stumble into a convo about sneaking “contraband” into the movies before accidentally discussing proper kidnapping etiquette, and pondering the merits of dinosaurs in space(!) After correcting the course, Blerd City hands out its first ever movie awards along with our movie rankings. Buckle up and keep your appendages inside at all times because it's about to be a wild, prehistoric ride.
It’s not often that you get to meet your doppelganger. Even less so that you get to do a podcast with them. In our first ever episode, we make the necessary introductions before diving deep into the steady rise of nerd culture along with the stigmas that have been and still need to be overcome. Afterwards, we tell you “What’s Hot” before geeking out, and finally we hand out our first pair of Black Air Forces. Hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed making this episode.
As promised, the King in Black and Fallen Shinigami come at you with a bonus Q&A mailbag episode, all canon and no filler. In it, we answer a litany of listener questions, ranging from the top five comic books movies of all time to animes that made us weep. Of course, it wouldn’t be us if we couldn’t avoid a few rants along the way, but as usual, it’s a great time in the city.
It’s not often that you get to meet your doppelganger. Even less so that you get to do a podcast with them. Meech and Meech presents Blerd City, a journey through the nebula of nerdom, presented from the unique perspective of two people that share the same name. Anime, cartoons, comics, movies, games we got it. Join us as we laugh, but also get deep on this new adventure.
