What did Jesus mean when He said that He didn't come to bring peace but the sword?

We analyze Matthew 10 and pay attention to the broader context of what is going on. Strong language is used throughout this chapter in those who accept the Kingdom that Jesus is bringing in, and we argue that those who come under submission to Christ's Rule will enjoy that peace, but those that resist will be at enmity with Him.

Application is made to our present day and situation in which we are called to be followers of Christ, and we should very much expect that we will be treated in similar fashion to how Jesus was treated.
