Without specifying why, ’70s theological and prophetic rumor-mill had it that communist Russia had been eying Israel, for some time, as a strategic point from which they could control the world.  This thought, too, is most compelling when one considers that it has been said that the most convenient route for the flow of oil out of the Middle East to the rest of the world is through the land of the Jews.  With two-thirds of global supplies stored in that area, assuming the foregoing is true, control of God’s country would indeed place the holder (like Russia) in a unique position of considerable “clout”.  If she can knock Israel off, Jordan would not be a problem, and all the other Arab nations, for the time being, are in R ...
