Tyler Dupuis came by the studio just before Hellbent went on tour. I was tired from the night before having Hexis over staying the night. Tyler's been in a handful of bands in Niagara over the years. He recently just started playing with a new death metal band, Hellish Rebuke. Tyler and I get talking about the Niagara scene, some older bands we played in, fights in Montreal, and walking around Ottawa on some heavy mushrooms. This week we took Bandecdotes on the run! We’re starting a brand new series of podcast episodes where I manage to interview musicians who are coming through St Catharines. We start this series off with Filip Andersen—the vocalist of Denmarks most crushing band, Hexis. We talk about how Filip almost died, their crazy month long tour, and all the different flavours of Mountain Dew ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️WATCH HERE⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Like and Subscribe below: Youtube.com/Bandecdotes ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️LISTEN HERE⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ https://linktr.ee/Bandecdotes -SUPPORT HEXIS- BANDCAMP: https://hexisband.bandcamp.com SPOTIFY: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1gA55xnafhPiBIM07ZlXHA?si=xYQFYM9vRUO-ANgQT_2q9g YOUTUBE: https://youtube.com/channel/UC8W2T5Kf1hBjxeavRfRan7Q INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/hexisband?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= FACEBOOK: https://m.facebook.com/Hexisband WEBSITE: https://www.hexisband.net
This week I’m very excited that Andrew Neufeld, a founding member of Comeback Kid and other well known Canadian projects, came by the studio for a quick chat. Comeback Kid came through St. Catharines and we kidnapped Andrew for a half hour before doors and get talking about all sorts of things. Like being arrested in different countries, what songs CBK would cover, and what it was like writing their latest record over the pandemic ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️WATCH HERE⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Like and Subscribe below: Youtube.com/Bandecdotes ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️LISTEN HERE⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ https://linktr.ee/Bandecdotes -SUPPORT COMEBACK KID- SPOTIFY: https://open.spotify.com/artist/67f7GZXNMGRn98lqrtIdrN?si=njp6CJE6QgOtB3aqOgdlUw YOUTUBE: https://youtube.com/user/comebackkidtv INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/comebackkid_hc?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= WEBSITE: https://www.comeback-kid.com -SUPPORT SIGHTS & SOUNDS- SPOTIFY: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0XWX7Mq0OUjQZtPxREERBJ?si=kRzjoivURgqLq6DTltOJyQ YOUTUBE: https://youtube.com/user/sightsandsoundstv INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/sightsandsoundsband?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= BANDCAMP: https://sightsxsounds.bandcamp.com

Tom Fitzpatrick came by the Bandecdotes studio this week for a chat. He plays guitar in both Perfect Limbs, and The Northern. Both are really cool metalcore acts from Southern Ontario. We get talking about a border crossing incident that sounded more like a fever dream, what it’s like having your van break down in the middle of nowhere in the middle of night, and playing in parking lots and getting applause from tenants living across from the parking lot. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️WATCH HERE⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Like and Subscribe below: Youtube.com/Bandecdotes ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️LISTEN HERE⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ https://linktr.ee/Bandecdotes -SUPPORT PERFECT LIMBS HERE- BANDCAMP: perfectlimbs.bandcamp.com INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/perfectlimbs/?hl=en YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkN9mH3mi-K9sfnlfSBTL0Q -SUPPORT THE NORTHERN HERE- BANDCAMP: thenortherncanada.bandcamp.com INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/thenorthernto/?hl=en YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/c/TheNorthernTV
This week I got the chance to sit down with the very insightful Pat Murphy. He’s a legend that helped shape the Niagara Music scene by bringing all sorts of heavy, indie, and emo acts from over the boarder. We talk about his new endeavour, Partners Records, some of the memorable shows he threw here in Niagara, and Sweet Hart Kitchen—his wife’s vegan, gluten-free, keto friendly and raw/no-bake business ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️WATCH HERE⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Like and Subscribe below: Youtube.com/Bandecdotes https://linktr.ee/Bandecdotes -SUPPORT SWEET HART KITCHEN HERE- WEBSITE: https://sweethartkitchen.com/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/sweethartkitchen/?hl=en Like, Subscribe, Follow, Rate & Review
This week I had the very funny Kenny Holt. He plays guitar in The Maysides and also has a solo project coming out this summer. We get talking about how he ended up playing music in Southern Ontario, his recent trip to Iceland which included a stop at Lemmys and the phallological museum plus many of small bandecdotes along the way ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️WATCH HERE⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Like and Subscribe below: Youtube.com/Bandecdotes ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️LISTEN HERE⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ https://linktr.ee/Bandecdotes -SUPPORT THE MAYSIDES HERE- WEBSITE: https://themaysides.com/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/themaysides/?hl=en YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheMaysides Like, Subscribe, Follow, Rate & Review
This week I sat down with Matt Murphy. He’s a familiar face of the Niagara music scene. When he isn’t working the doors or playing in punk bands in St. Catharines he’s touring the world with U.S.S. We helped ourselves to some brass monkeys while remembering the good old days. He also tells us stories of getting cut off from the bar on a 12hr flight, drinking from a strangers shoe, and eating old gum off of a chair. All this and more on your favourite Ontario based podcast. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️WATCH HERE⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Like and Subscribe below: Youtube.com/Bandecdotes -SUPPORT UBIQUITOUS SYNGERY SEEKER HERE- WEBSITE: https://ussmusic.com/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/ussmusic/?hl=en YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFGLjkrDp3qVfVcJ2fYQDBA Like, Subscribe, Follow, Rate & Review
We had a very important guest come by the studio this week. He’s opened for a ton of bands, sold 1000 copies of his record Thunder Under Pressure, and still has an undying passion for music. I’m talking of course about Justin “Hardcore Warrior” Weaver. A staple of St. Catharines and the Niagara music scene. It wasn’t uncommon to see Justin up at the front of every show head banging his brains out. His one man project and since turned into a family band with his brother playing bass. Together they’ve formed Synergy of the Fallen and have still been playing and practicing their hearts out. Tune in as Justin and I get down to the bottom of things like Dimebag’s death, his backyard wrestling career, and what it was like growing up with a family of nudists ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️WATCH HERE⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Like and Subscribe below: Youtube.com/Bandecdotes -SUPPORT SYNERGY OF THE FALLEN HERE- BANDCAMP: https://synergyofthefallen.bandcamp.com/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/synergyofthefallen/ YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCq-lVX3X7tH4SzunuXF4MQA Like, Subscribe, Follow, Rate & Review
Adam Cameron came by the studio this week. He plays in Cold Shoulder, who just released a Primal Fury on New Age Records. He also plays in a brand new pop punk band called Father // Figure. When he isn’y playing in bands he’s busy with his family and street sweeping business. We talk about the highly anticipated Ontario hardcore festival Hold Your Ground Fest 22’, what it’s like balancing the band life and family life, and the importance of local show prices.
