Dr. Toll is the founder of Compassion Neuroscience, where he combines TMS with neuroimaging methods such as EEG to treat patients with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD. His evidence-based approach emphasizes quantitative measures to enhance patient outcomes and expand access to care—particularly for Gold Star families. Dr. Toll earned his PhD in Bioengineering from Stanford, specializing in TMS, EEG, and MRI. A West Point graduate, he served as a combined armor-infantry platoon leader in Iraq’s Diyala River Valley, where his battalion was awarded the Valorous Unit Award for extraordinary heroism during a 14-month deployment in the “Triangle of Death.” After returning, Dr. Toll served as a casualty officer—an experience that deeply shaped his mission to improve care for families of the fallen. He is currently an assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he conducts research on mood disorders and addiction, and trains medical students and residents in TMS protocols.
