Can Grass in Space Feed Cows on Earth?

Liesa Bidali hosts Felix Odhiambo in conversation about what happens when satellites in space, pastoralist knowledge on the ground, and insurance meet to save a herd from drought.

This episode takes the mystery out of Index-Based Livestock Insurance; unpacking how grass becomes data, data becomes decisions, and decisions can trigger payouts. We explore affordability, the role of pastoralists’ knowledge, and what this means for climate resilience. Beyond pastoral communities, it’s a peek into how insurance can reshape livelihoods and Africa’s food systems.
