2 White Girls Talk Bollywood
Temporada 2
por Kim Hughes & Katie Babione
Who among us doesn't occasionally fantasize about being fabulously wealthy? But a film like Murder Mubarak reminds us that upper crust folks have problems too. Problems like, for example, discovering the beets in their favorite health-conscious cocktail were planted alongside a dead body. It's extremely relatable, no matter your economic class. Murder Mubarak is based on the novel "Club You to Death" by Anuja Chauhan, and was directed by Homi Adajania. It's an ensemble cast starring Pankaj Tripathi, Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Varma, Dimple Kapadia, Karisma Kapoor, and Sanjay Kapoor. Like what you're hearing? This week's movie certainly gave us a lot to talk about-- the repercussions of toxic masculinity and excessive violence, what it means to protect the ones we love, the complicated dynamics between a father and son, our own complicated feelings of attraction towards the main character... but overwhelmingly we're left with the question of why was this movie made? Was it meant to address these important questions? Or is it simply a testosterone-fueled means of filling 3 hours and 20 minutes? Regardless, there's undeniable entertainment value, and the performances are all around top-notch. Animal was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Bobby Deol. Like what you're hearing? The time has finally come for us to discuss one of our favorite films, Rab Ne! Every time we watch it, we fall more and more in love. But not the flashy, performative, all-or-nothing love we sometimes see depicted in Bollywood. No, this love is quiet, simple, unselfish, and supportive. Just like Suri's love for Taani! Rab Ne was written and directed by Aditya Chopra, and stars Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma. Like what you're hearing? Remember to follow us on TikTok & Instagram @2whitegirlstalkbollywood.
