Melissa was born with sacral agenesis—a rare congenital condition affecting the lower spine that impacts mobility. She has been painting since 5 years old and transforms lived experience into expressive abstraction, with her abstractions featured across 38 active showcases worldwide and created across 38 countries. She is the author of disability awareness books "A Tale of a Service Animal: A Heartwarming Tale of Disability Awareness, Friendship, and Kindness — Includes Coloring Activity" also available in audio, English, Spanish versions with Braille and American Sign Language in production.
