76. Rubber Duckie Shifter Next Door
Welcome back WITS listeners!! This week, join Elle and Kay as we discuss Rubber Duckie Shifter Next Door by Mia Harlan. WITS Smut Scale: 🐙 This week, we start with a very hot topic discussion of whether or not an author should be allowed to replace their book to change from open door to closed door romance, and a much bigger question of do we ever own digital media. We discuss how we love some plot in our smut, but the back story of this one went hardddd. Kay loves a next door neighbor trope, but a little bit of the insta-love has us taking a step back. We learn that Kay likes to be a passenger princess, and that Elle could care less who drives. We do kind of wish that there was a rubber duck themed water park near us though. Overall, both Kay and Elle gave this ⭐. There was a little too much going on for a novella, even though the idea was really cute. 75. French Horny
Explícito
Welcome back WITS Listeners. This week, join Elle and Kay as they discuss French Horny by Nora Noodle. WITS Smut Scale: 🐙 Finally, there's good news in the smutverse! C.M. Nascosta is getting a traditional publishing deal! We can't wait to pre-order Morning Glory Milking Farm in all its trad-published glory. In our book this week, we've been given a different twist to sentient objects, where the FMC sort of brings the sentient objects to life. We also did a deep dive on the parts of a french horn, looking up a picture and trying to really understand the logistics. One of those times that its probably a good think we didn't have a prop. Elle missed the American Pie band reference with the fan cast this week, instead jumping right to the Buffy vibes. Overall, Kay gave this one ⭐⭐, while Elle went with ⭐.5 Links for this week's episode: French Horny by Nora Noodle Next week: Rubber Duckie Shifter Next Door by Mia Harlan WE HAVE MERCH!!! 74. Scrub Me Daddy
Explícito
Welcome back WITS listeners! This week, join Elle and Kay as we discuss Scrub Me Daddy by April Showers. WITS Smut Scale: 🐙🐙.5 After a week off, we start off discussing the Wicker trailer. Late to the game, but still ready to find our people when we go to see it in theaters this fall. This week's book starts, truly, with more of Elle's triggers- utilizing a germ filled sponge to... well, you know. Kay points out that you really need to know someone if you're going to eat food that they've made for you, because you never know what they're doing with their cleaning products. We are faced with a bit of a "born yesterday" vibe, but in a sweet way, and he redeems himself by continuing to piss off her ex-boyfriend. Overall, Kay gave this one ⭐⭐⭐, while Elle rated it a little higher at ⭐⭐⭐.5 Links for this week's episode: Scrub Me Daddy by April Showers Next week: French Horny by Nora Noodle WE HAVE MERCH!!! 73. Tumbled
Explícito
Welcome back WITS listeners! Join Elle and Kay this week as we discuss Tumbled by Skye and Philomena MacKinnon. WITS Smut Scale: 🐙🐙 This week, we're feeling a bit despondent regarding AI news coming from the smutverse. Our book, however, gave some sweet romance vibes in an outrageous sentient object package. We discuss the best chances for success in getting out of the laundromat in a reasonable timeframe, and how a pissy mood can make you talk to inanimate objects. We're thrilled with the fact that a talking washer/dryer is looking for enthusiastic consent, and Elle really loved that the thought of using fabric softener was discussed as an absolute no-go. Overall, Kay gave this ⭐⭐⭐⭐, while Elle gave it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!! Links for this week's episode: Tumbled by Skye and Philomena MacKinnon Next weeks book: Scrub Me Daddy by April Showers WE HAVE MERCH!!! 72. My Hotdog Came to Life and Screwed Me
Explícito
Welcome back WITS listeners!! This week, join us as we discuss "My Hotdog Came to Life and Screwed Me" by Sky Corgan. WITS Smut Scale: 🐙🐙 This week has more AI smutverse news, from which Kay is still a little unclear how a company can pay out billions of dollars and not go bankrupt. Our book this week was all Elle's fault, though she's going to blame this one on Vera Valentine for having it on her website. The hotdog stand owner reminded us of one of the aliens from Men in Black, but he gets a redemption arc in some random reviewer's rewrite of the ending. Kay gives Elle a lesson on a Rhode Island food staple, and Elle might still be questioning if she made it all up (she didn't, they're a real food!). Condiments are important for a hotdog, however do not belong in smut. Overall, though the conversations about the book made us laugh, both Elle and Kay rated this ⭐. 71. Legendairy Role Play
Explícito
Welcome back WITS listeners! This week, join Elle and Kay as we discuss Legendairy Role Play by Rosemary Bunny. WITS Smut Scale: 🐙🐙🐙.5 Kay knew within the first sentence of this book that Elle was not going to be on board with the story line. To be fair, we knew there was going to be whipped cream, but the hucow role play really threw us off. We discuss whether or not this takes on the task of trying to be a "how to" for the lifestyle (maybe without the can of whipped cream...), which is usually the opposite of these types of books. As for that whipped cream can... what a backstory- we hate him. He has a bit of a redemption arc, but the frat bro vibes are too real. Overall, as expected, Elle gave this ⭐.5 while Kay gave it ⭐⭐⭐.5 (that extra half star probably is because she knew discussing this with Elle was going to bring her joy). 70. Light Me Up
Explícito
Welcome back WITS listeners! This week, join Elle and Kay as we discuss Light Me Up by Sabrina Cross. WITS Smut Scale: 🐙🐙🐙 We start off this week discussing yet another AI lawsuit. The lines continue to get fuzzier and Kay really just doesn't want to end up like the people from Wall-E. This week's book combines sentient objects, a little electro-play, and a miscommunication trope that makes us feel bad for the lamp. An appearance of Thor, and a brave mortal make for an unexpected gift from the gods. For such a short story (this one is only 28 pages!) there was a surprisingly flushed out plotline, and just the perfect amount of smut. Overall, Kay gave this ⭐⭐⭐.5 stars, while Elle gave it ⭐⭐⭐. 69. Creamed by my Monster Stand Mixer
Explícito
Welcome back WITS listeners! Join Elle and Kay this week as we discuss Creamed by my Monster Stand Mixer by Krista LaRae. WITS Smut Scale: 🐙🐙 We start off this week by realizing that we accidentally participate in the Haters Book club thats been trending on social media. In this weeks book, we're slightly confused why the MMC (monster main character?) is German, and why the MMC isn't her boss. Both Kay and Elle related to the FMC being made to feel like shes "too much," and were glad to see that the love interest is not at all bothered by her "muchness." We wish there was a little more smut, but if you've been listening for a while, you know that theres quite literally no pleasing us. Overall, this was a miss for Kay, with ⭐ and Elle rated it slightly higher with ⭐⭐ . 68. Filthy Strokes
Explícito
Welcome back WITS listeners! This week, Elle and Kay found their inner artists with Filthy Strokes by Laura Victoria. WITS Smut Scale: 🐙🐙 Elle stumbled upon some messy booksta-drama somewhere in the rabbit hole of Threads, and we discuss the difference between airing dirty laundry for your followers, and followers understanding when creatives deserve their privacy (spoiler: authors deserve to have private lives, despite how much you love their work.). In this week's book, Elle was briefly teased with a FMC who uses protection while the sentient object is still in paintbrush form and then seems to forget it exists once he's a human. Both Kay and Elle were a little confused with the darker elements that don't always seem to align with where the story went. We got a bit of a jump scare with a preemptive "I love you" followed by a curse-induced ghosting? Overall, this was ⭐⭐ from both Elle and Kay. Creative premise, but we had too many questions. 67. Gage
Explícito
Welcome back WITS listeners! This week, join Elle and Kay as they discuss Gage by Imogen Knowed. WITS Smut Scale: 🐙🐙 We start off firmly in the camp that its ok to look up words while you're reading, in fact, we encourage it. We do not encourage authors to write at a lower reading level for those who do not wish to do so. In this week's book, we're faced with the question- curse or gift? Whichever side you land on... are you trying it out within the first 10 minutes? Our FMC not only immediately tests the warning, and the item of choice is a ruler. As wild as this was, we loved it. The smut, though vanilla, definitely smuts, and the love story that we're given is exceptionally sweet. Both Kay and Elle gave this one ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. We loved it!
