WHY ARE SOME BLACK YOUTH TURNING TO VIOLENCE AGAINST EACH OTHER?

Why are we continuing to see young lives lost to violence in some Black communities? On this episode of Hellfire 360, we’re having a serious conversation about youth violence—not to stereotype Black youth, but to ask what circumstances are putting some young people at greater risk and what can actually be done about it.

Research shows youth violence rarely has one simple cause. Exposure to violence, delinquent peer groups, family conflict, limited economic opportunities, unstable housing, struggling schools, and communities with high levels of crime can all increase risk. Strong family connections, positive mentors, supportive schools, safe activities, and better economic opportunities can help protect young people.
