Everyone is talking about Oliver Anthony's song "Rich Men North of Richmond!" My question is, is Oliver Anthony country music's version of Tupac or NWA? Tupac and NW werent just "singing songs" they were telling a story of the political and social realities of the times they were living in. Yes, they were speaking directly to their African American communiites but what made them so popular (infamous?) was the fact that in the end they were actually saying what a large number of people that were not in fact african american were also thinking. In other words they, knowingly or not, had a pulse on the hearts and minds of pretty much the entirety of american population that were of middle class and below's opinions.
