A Chicago native, Larry explained how Major League Baseball has changed with analytics but relationship building has stayed the same. Larry agrees with Joe Maddon that there's a place for analytics, but it can't dominate the game to the point where it significantly hinders the development of coaches and players from the minors to the majors. Throughout his professional career as a coach and manager, Larry enjoyed coaching / mentoring players individually, in a one–to–one relationship building capacity, within the culture of an organization (i.e. MLB franchise).
