Day 16: Luke 22:41-42
41 And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
Prayer Lesson: Sometimes prayer is a clash of wills. We have desires but they don’t always match up with God’s desires. Scripture says that God will give us the desires of our heart (Psalm 37:4); however, only if they are in alignment with His will. Think of prayer as the opportunity for some spiritual alignment. We should bring our desires to the Lord, but like Jesus modeled, we must ultimately seek the Father’s will above our own. It’s ok to respectfully wrestle with God over things. Job did. David did.
