What happens when the physical presence of a leader leaves, and a new era begins? For the disciples, they had just survived the traumatic events of Christ's arrest and crucifixion, followed by 40 miraculous days of seeing Him resurrected. But on the Mount of Olives, everything changed when Jesus was lifted into the clouds and taken straight out of their sight.
This sermon explores why the Ascension is considered a major turning event in the Christian faith. Up until this profound moment, the disciples relied entirely on the physical presence of Christ, who they could see, hear, and touch. However, His departure was actually a powerful beginning that paved the way for the era of the Holy Spirit. Unlike a physical presence limited by time and space, the Holy Spirit serves as a constant comforter and advocate for all believers at all times.
