Being Good At Something Does Not Make You Good at Teaching It

Three Body Thinking por Zach Warring

Notas del episodio

As a coach, this is absolutely a hill I am willing to die on. We see a lot of "leaders" in our world today. With youth sports absolutely blowing up, coaches are on demand more than ever. Leadership advice hitting us from every platform in every direction. Influencers telling us how they did it and how you can do it too. If you want advice, there are millions of people around the clock ready to give it.

But... being a good teacher and mentor takes a wildly different skillset from someone who is successful at their trade. Simply being a good teacher/mentor is a craft unto itself that takes just as much time getting good at as the trade/skill you are teaching. And yet, that is now how we value teachers or mentors in our society. In fact, it is quite the opposite.
