The Balance
THE BALANCE | Work, Family, Vacation & Why Memories Matter More Than Emails What does work-life balance really mean when you're an executive, entrepreneur, business owner, or someone who genuinely loves what they do? This week, I'm recording from beautiful Maui, Hawaii, where our family spent time making memories after my son competed in a junior golf tournament at the world-famous Wailea Golf Club. But even while surrounded by beaches, sunsets, family, and paradise, I found myself wrestling with something many high achievers understand all too well: the inability to completely disconnect from work. In this episode, I share my thoughts on leadership, family, success, vacations, and the hidden cost of constantly being available. Why do we wait until lunch to call our spouse while we're working, but immediately answer work calls during family time? Why do we protect work from family interruptions, but not family from work interruptions? And why are some of the most important moments of our lives happening while we're staring at a screen? This is an honest conversation about making memories, being present, trusting your team, and finding balance in a world that constantly demands your attention. If you've ever checked your email from the beach, opened your laptop during vacation, or felt guilty for taking time off, this episode is for you. Because at the end of the day, your children won't remember the email. They'll remember that you were there. 🎙️ Subscribe to This With Krish 🌐 This Newsroom: https://thisnewsroom.com 🌐 This With Krish: https://thiswithkrish.com 📺 YouTube: https://youtube.com/@thiswithkrish 📸 Instagram: https://instagram.com/thiswithkrish 📘 Facebook: https://facebook.com/thiswithkrish 🐦 X: https://x.com/thiswithkrish 💼 LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/krishdhokia #ThisWithKrish #WorkLifeBalance #TheBalance #Leadership #ExecutiveLife #Entrepreneurship #FamilyFirst #VacationMode #BusinessLeadership #SuccessMindset #PersonalGrowth #Parenting #Fatherhood #Maui #Hawaii #WaileaGolfClub #GolfLife #LeadershipPodcast #Motivation #Inspiration

14 Years Sober: Everything Alcohol Promised Me, Sobriety Delivered
Yesterday marked 14 years of sobriety. Fourteen years ago, I made one of the hardest decisions of my life. At the time, I thought I was giving something up. Looking back, I realize I was gaining everything. In this deeply personal episode of The This With Krish Show, I share what alcoholism taught me, what sobriety gave me, and the lessons I've learned over the last 14 years. We talk about family, faith, sports, culture, temptation, recovery, and the reality that addiction never completely leaves your life. As an Indian-American, I also discuss the unique social pressures around alcohol that many people experience but rarely talk about openly. While my own parents never drank, alcohol was often glamorized in social settings, celebrated at gatherings, and treated almost like a badge of honor. Early in my recovery, I remember people laughing, joking, and questioning my decision to stop drinking. Looking back, those moments only strengthened my resolve. I also share something that surprised me: I genuinely believed I wouldn't enjoy sports without alcohol. Football Saturdays, tailgates, golf tournaments, vacations, weddings, and celebrations all seemed tied to drinking. What I discovered was that I didn't love alcohol. I loved the experience. Sobriety allowed me to actually be present for it. We'll talk about raising children who have never seen their father drink, building a marriage rooted in trust, navigating daily triggers even after 14 years, and why I know that if I ever picked up a drink again, the consequences would likely be far worse than before. Along the way, we'll explore the stories of famous athletes, musicians, actors, and celebrities who battled addiction, some who found recovery and some who tragically didn't. Most importantly, this episode is for anyone who is struggling right now, anyone who loves someone who is struggling, or anyone who needs a reminder that their story is not finished. Alcohol promised confidence. Alcohol promised happiness. Alcohol promised freedom. Alcohol promised connection. Sobriety delivered every one of those things. Thank you for joining me on this journey. All glory to God. EP 110: If They Were Toxic Then… They Still Are Now
What do you do when people from your past suddenly show back up? At first, it feels nostalgic… familiar… maybe even exciting. But what happens when you look a little deeper and realize not everyone is meant to come with you into the next chapter of your life? In this episode, we’re getting real about growth, boundaries, and the uncomfortable truth that history does NOT equal loyalty. Some people were never aligned with you—they were just around you. And when you start building something meaningful, they don’t come back for you… they come back for access. This is about protecting your energy. This is about choosing alignment over familiarity. This is about understanding that a small circle of real ones will always beat a crowd of the wrong people. If you’ve ever felt that tension between reconnecting and protecting your peace… this one is for you. What started as a simple conversation about AI… turned into something much bigger. So let’s ask the real question… We made robots… for what exactly? In this episode of This with Krish, we break down the speed of innovation, the reality of humanoid robots entering everyday life, and what it means for our homes, our jobs, and our future. This isn’t fear… this is awareness. Because this isn’t coming someday… It’s already here. 🎧 Listen / Watch More Episodes: 👉 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@ThisWithKrish 👉 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com 👉 Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com 📲 Follow Krish: 👉 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thiswithkrish 👉 X (Twitter): https://x.com/thiswithkrish 👉 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com 📰 Read More at THIS NEWSROOM: 👉 https://thisnewsroom.com 📘 Grab the Book — Mar-Ed (Marketing + Education): 👉 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GR6X71X4 💬 Let’s Talk: Do you think robots will actually replace human labor… or just change it? The Real Meaning of Teamwork (From My Son)
What does teamwork really mean? Today, I sit down with my son Liam—4 seasons into lacrosse and already making plays—to talk about what it means to play together, trust your teammates, and have fun doing it. This episode is real, unscripted, and full of laughs as Liam shares how he sees the game, what he loves about lacrosse, and why teamwork matters both on and off the field. Sometimes the best lessons don’t come from adults… they come from kids just being themselves. If you’re a parent, coach, or athlete—this one’s for you.
