Wilford Woodruff was born March 1, 1807, in Farmington, Connecticut, and later became the fourth President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1889. The last living Apostle who had served with Joseph Smith, he dedicated his life to bearing testimony of the Restoration. Despite suffering numerous serious accidents in his youth, he believed the Lord preserved him for a divine purpose. A faithful missionary, Apostle, temple president, and historian, he carefully kept journals that now provide invaluable Church history. He issued the 1890 Manifesto ending plural marriage and dedicated the Salt Lake Temple in 1893, leaving a legacy of obedience, record-keeping, and unwavering faith.
