You might have heard or watched the dynamic sermon titled “The Power of Love,” from the 2018 royal wedding of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle, delivered by the 27th Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church, Bishop Michael B. Curry.

I was one of the billions of people who were captivated by his words that Saturday morning, and as I sat there, I knew that I had to meet him and be in his presence.

That same year, I was a sophomore at an Episcopal school in Atlanta. Much to my surprise, I requested, and was granted to have a one-on-one interview with the Presiding Bishop. I was overjoyed. Not only did he deliver the sermon at the royal wedding, but he is also the first African American Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church.
