Why I Never Talk ‘Truth’ at Work: Colleagues Aren’t Your Friends

In this Friday “random rumination,” I reflect on what it’s like to be a truther while working a normal job and why I believe the workplace is never the time or place to discuss conspiracy, occult, or spiritual-warfare topics. Drawing on my experience as a supermarket deputy manager, I explain how being discovered as a conspiracy YouTuber damaged my career, changed how coworkers treated me, and made advancement impossible. I argue that coworkers aren’t real friends in a competitive, profit-driven environment and can use your views against you to protect their income or get ahead, leading to HR problems, discrimination, firing, blacklisting, and lost references.
