At one point Fr. Korte had a conversation with someone about what happens when one prays. He looked thoughtful and said "things occur to you." We are so used to having ideas, images, and memories in our heads that we seldom stop to think about where ideas come from. It can often take months or years of prayer to receive an answer when lo and behold the answer was there all along. Prayer give the Holy Spirit time to communicate in a way that doesn't override one's free will and brings them along mentally to accept what may have been suggested and rejected in the beginning. Other times God may desire the cooperation of others or the passage of time to put the answer together without infringing on the free will of everyone involved.
