How to Externalize the Eating Disorder Voice When It Gets Loud
The eating disorder voice often gets loudest at the exact moments you're trying hardest to recover. This eating disorder recovery message is about how to externalize the ED voice and stay recovery-aligned. You might know intellectually that the eating disorder voice isn't you, while simultaneously feeling unable to tell where you end and it begins. You might be negotiating with it all day, obeying its demands just for a moment of peace/relief, arguing back until you're exhausted, believing its thoughts are your own, or wondering who you'd even be without it... If the ED voice has been getting louder recently, this video is for you. I'm talking about what externalizing actually means, how to separate yourself from the eating disorder voice, and how to respond differently when it starts shouting over your recovery. This is your reminder that the voice is not your identity. You can hear it loudly and still choose recovery. For anyone navigating a loud ED voice, constant food noise, recovery doubts, or the fear that the thoughts will never stop, I hope this gives you somewhere to turn when things get overwhelming. Are You "SICK ENOUGH" to Recover?
“I’m not sick enough to recover.” This eating disorder recovery message offers support to help you navigate the difficult beliefs around not feeling valid, serious enough or sick enough to deserve treatment and recovery. If you've ever had these thoughts, you are absolutely not alone. But you do not need to reach a certain weight, become more medically compromised, or make your eating disorder worse before you are allowed to recover. If you're struggling and the eating disorder is impacting your quality of life, you deserve support. And if part of you is waiting until you're “sick enough” before taking recovery seriously, I hope this video helps you question that rule. Quasi recovery is not the same as reclaiming your life and your food freedom. You deserve so much more than that. How to Overcome the Fear of WEIGHT GAIN
Fear of weight gain can be one of the most powerful parts of an eating disorder. This eating disorder recovery message offers support to help you navigate those difficult moments. You might know intellectually that weight restoration and nutritional rehabilitation are important, while simultaneously feeling terrified of what will happen if your body changes. You might be body checking, weighing yourself, comparing yourself to other people, trying to compensate for food, or desperately looking for reassurance that your weight hasn't changed... If you’re experiencing weight gain anxiety and body image distress, this video is for you. I’m talking about what to do when the fear of gaining weight becomes so loud that it makes you want to turn back towards the eating disorder. Because recovery doesn't require you to feel completely comfortable with weight gain first. Sometimes the next step is choosing recovery while you're still scared and while you don't feel ready or motivated. Your eating disorder may tell you that gaining weight means losing control, losing your identity, or becoming someone you don't want to be. This is your reminder that you can be afraid of weight gain and still choose recovery. Despite those fears. For anyone currently navigating weight restoration, body image struggles, eating disorder recovery, or fear of gaining weight, I hope this gives you somewhere to turn when those thoughts get loud. Watch This When You Want To RESTRICT | Eating Disorder Recovery
Struggling with the urge to restrict food, skip a meal, or compensate for eating? This eating disorder recovery message offers support to help you navigate those difficult moments. This is for when the eating disorder is telling you that restricting will make you feel safer, calmer, or more in control. If you’re struggling with food restriction, calorie restriction, meal skipping, or compensatory behaviours in anorexia recovery, this is your reminder that the urge to restrict does NOT mean you need to act on it. The discomfort and food guilt you feel after eating does NOT mean you have done something wrong. And you don't have to wait until the urge disappears before choosing recovery. This video is designed for anyone seeking guidance and encouragement during their healing journey. This video offers practical eating disorder recovery support for those moments when restricting feels incredibly tempting, but you know that recovery requires you to embrace opposite action. Recovery isn't about never having the urge to restrict again. It's about learning that you can experience that urge without letting it make your decisions for you. For anyone currently navigating weight restoration, body image struggles, eating disorder recovery, or fear of gaining weight, I hope this gives you somewhere to turn when those thoughts get loud. When Recovery Feels WORSE Than Your Eating Disorder
Sometimes eating disorder recovery doesn't feel freeing. Instead, it feels terrifying, uncomfortable and WORSE than restriction. This eating disorder recovery message offers support to help you navigate those difficult moments. In eating disorder recovery, increasing your meal plan can feel worse than restricting. Weight gain can feel worse than being underweight. Letting go of compulsive exercise can feel unbearable, and sitting with food guilt, bloating, fullness, uncertainty and body image distress can make you wonder whether recovery is actually worth it. The honest truth: recovery isn't always going to feel good in the beginning. You're asking yourself to move towards things your eating disorder has taught you to fear, and your brain can interpret that discomfort as evidence that you're doing something wrong. But feeling uncomfortable doesn't necessarily mean you're on the wrong path. Sometimes it means you're doing something different. And that's a good and brave thing. If recovery currently feels harder than staying in your eating disorder, I hope this video reminds you that you don't have to love recovery every step of the way. You just have to keep choosing the next step that moves you towards food freedom.
