What happens when we get exactly what we ask for? Today in 1 Samuel, an aging Samuel faces a heartbreaking rebellion. The people of Israel reject God as their direct ruler, demanding a human king so they can "be like all the nations." God grants their request, leading to the selection of Saul—a man who looks the part but carries deep flaws. In the Gospel of John, we see the ultimate contrast. The crowds pour into the streets of Jerusalem, waving palm branches and shouting "Hosanna!" to welcome Jesus. Yet, He doesn't arrive with military pomp on a warhorse; He comes riding on a humble donkey, ready to show that His crown is won through a cross.
