Palm Sunday reminds us that not all kings come the way we expect. As Jesus entered Jerusalem, He rode on a humble donkey—symbolizing peace, gentleness, and servanthood. At the same time, Pontius Pilate entered on a powerful stallion, representing authority, control, and worldly power.
Two processions. Two kingdoms. Two very different kinds of kings.
The crowd welcomed Jesus with praise, but many were still expecting a ruler who would conquer like Pilate—not a Savior who would surrender. Yet Jesus came not to dominate, but to serve. Not to take power, but to lay down His life.
This Palm Sunday invites us to reflect: Who is your King? Are we following the way of power and control, or the way of humility and surrender?
