Hathor has magical associations with the sky, the sun, and the afterlife. Hathor is a protector of women, especially during childbirth. She is often depicted as a woman with cow ears and horns, or a woman with a headdress featuring cow horns and a sun disk. She is associated with the West, where the sun sets and the as "Hathor-of-the-West," she played a role in the afterlife, helping deceased souls in their journey.
