Episode 13 : Remaining Authentic When Changing Jobs And Working With New Coaches
Parker and Lansky delve into the potentially challenging situation where a coach makes a move from being the head coach to an assistant on someone else’s staff. Roles and responsibilities change as coaches move from being the head guy or girl at a high school to an assistant at a college, or moving from college to the pros or the opposite situation where coaches move from college to high school. Sometimes changes in ownership or leadership result in a head coach moving to a former opponent’s staff as an assistant. Adapting from being the decision-maker to the coach offering opinions and suggestions can take some time and effort to adjust. Parker and Lansky discuss how an authentic coaching mindset can impact your ability to adjust, adapt and thrive in new situations. Knowing your role and embracing new challenges is impacted by being able to put your ego aside, opening up to new ideas and concepts, demonstrating loyalty and adopting a spirit of humility so you can excel at what you do best: helping your athletes to improve and grow and achieve their dreams.
