You really don’t know anything until you travel and see/experience it for yourself. Just know, you take all your issues and baggage with you too. I was very envious for many years of some of my family members who got to travel to many countries with my favorite cousins and I was always left out. This time, a dream came true and I got to experience an unforgettable trip with them as we rented a car and drove all around the touristy areas.

I was very skeptical about visiting cities like Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, Chichén Itzá, and Cancún because of them being tourist traps but as my cousin eloquently put, “Tourists go there for a reason. They don’t go to places you would not want to see”. He was not wrong. It was incredibly beautiful.
